Responsible for the maintenance of mission-critical servers throughout a global network.

Installed, configured, and deployed new enterprise servers. Planned, built, and configured new installation server to provide software-based (rather than image-based) installations. Built new Xen virtualization server and implemented VMs for wikis and other services. Built and maintained monitoring systems (Nagios).

Senior Systems Administrator

Responsible for maintaining data center of approximately 150 machines.

Maintained servers running Apache, DNS, NIS, NFS, Jumpstart, and other services.

Evaluated, purchased, and configured systems to support user environment and production pipelines for the Human Genome Sequencing Center bioinformatics group.

Designed, built, and implemented a disk-based data archive system to handle long-term storage of data produced by the DNA sequencers at a price point less than that of a tape system.

Assisted in the design and implementation of a new network infrastructure and a new production environment, including building and configuring new infrastructure, login, and production pipeline servers.

Evaluated and implemented virtualization solutions including Vmware, Xen, and OpenVZ/Virtuozzo.

Configured, customized, and maintained Nagios monitoring solution.
